Setting up your email account in Windows 8 Mail (IMAP)
Windows 8 ships with a built-in email client called the Mail app, which offers the ability to connect with your email address via the IMAP service. POP email is not supported in this app.
On the Start screen tap/click the Mail app
Windows 8 will open the Mail application. Move your pointer to the upper right corner to reveal the Charms.
Tap/Click Settings
This will reveal Settings for Mail.
Tap/Click Accounts
Windows Mail will display something like the following image. There may be other accounts already listed.
Tap/Click Add an Account
The Add an Account page shows a list of optional services.
Tap/Click Other Account
Windows Mail displays Add your Other Account and a minimal details form.
Tap/Click Show More Details
Enter Your Email Account Details
Please enter your complete email account details as shown below. Keep in mind that the Email address below is illustrative. Use your email account details that your where provided with. For guidance read the text below this image:
Enter the below settings on the following screen
- Email Address: Your full Email address
- Username: Your full Email address
- Password: The password you use to login to your Email account
- Incoming (IMAP) email server: imap.stackmail.com
- Port: 993
- Incoming server requires SSL: Must Be Checked
- Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.stackmail.com
- Port: 465
- Outgoing server requires SSL: Must Be Checked
- Outgoing server requires authentication: Must Be Checked
- Use the same username and password to send and receive email: Must Be Checked
Tap/Click the Connect button to complete the setup
Contratulations. You will be returned to Windows Mail and will see your Inbox and current messages.
