Setting up your email account in Thunderbird

We make use of 'autodiscover' technology, so that in the majority of cases, Thunderbird can set up your account for you with only your email address and your password.

We always recommend IMAP as the connection to the email server. This helps keep messages in sync between various devices and the email system.

Automatic Setup

  • In the Thunderbird menu bar, click the Tools menu and select Account Settings, or click the Application menu button Thunderbird Menu and select Account Settings from the sub-menu.
  • At the bottom of the left pane, click the Account Actions button and select Add Mail Account…
  • Enter your email account details and press Continue

Enter your email account details and press continue

  • Thunderbird will now try to determine your account settings based on the domain portion of your email address (that is, the portion after the "@" symbol).

Thunderbird will find the IMAP setting automatically

  • If you see the above screen then your email account has now be configured correctly.
  • Click 'Done' you are finished.

  • If you got an error then the automatic setup failed, to continue please choose 'Configure Manually' to enter server settings manually.
