Setting up your email account in OS X Mail

If this is the first time you have opened Apple Mail. You will be presented with the following screen.

Please enter your enter your full name, email address and email password.

If this is not the first time you have used Apple Mail and you already have an account setup in the program then please go to step 2.

From the Mail menu, select Preferences.

Along the bottom left of this screen you will see a plus sign(+) click this.

In the Add Account window, enter your full name, email address and email password.

Click Continue.

In the Incoming Mail Server screen, select POP from the Account Type list, and enter your information as follows:

  • Description: the name of your account.
  • Incoming mail server: mail.opgweb.co.uk
  • User Name: your email address.
  • Password: your email account password.

Click Continue.

In the Outgoing Mail Server screen enter your information as follows:

  • Description: the name for this mail account (e.g. example@domain.co.uk).
  • Outgoing mail server: mail.opgweb.co.uk

Check the Use only this server box.

Check the Use Authentication box, and then enter your User Name which is your Email Address and your Password.

Click Continue.


The next screen will give you an Account Summmary.

Click Create.

Congratulations. You’ve now configured Apple Mail to send and receive email.
